Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study of the process of alcoholysis of secondary polyethylene terephthalate ethylene glycol (EG). The main attention is paid to determining the optimal conditions for the formation of bis-hydroxy ethylene terephthalate, since this product is an intermediate in the production of polyethylene terephthalate. At the same time, the effects of the duration of alcoholysis, the type and amount of catalyst on the yield of bis-hydroxy ethylene terephthalate (ratio of PET: EG = 1 mol elementary link 4 mol) were studied. Changing the duration of alcoholysis from 8 to 10 hours, the type and amount of catalyst (zinc acetate, tetrabutoxy titanium), methods ox the isolation of bis-hydroxy ethylene terephthalate, it was possible to increase the yield of bis-hydroxy ethylene terephthalate from 64.4 to 70.1%. The main physicochemical parameters of bishydroxy ethylene terephthalate are given, which are in good agreement with the data of other researchers.
