Abstract

The aim of the work is to study the physical and chemical foundations of the simultaneous production of sodium hydroxide - caustic soda and burkeite by the conversion of soda ash with calcium hydroxide - milk of lime in the presence of natural ore - mirabilite. Analysis of the solubility diagrams of the corresponding systems and experimentally proved the possibility of obtaining caustic soda and burkeite based on these components. At the same time, the optimal values of temperature, Na2CO3:Na2SO4 ratio, Ca(OH)2 concentration and duration of the technological process were established. The rheological properties of intermediate solutions and pulps were determined, which showed their sufficient fluidity for transportation. Chemical and physic-chemical methods of analysis identified the mineralogical composition of the obtained products.
